Last night, the Rangeview varsity wrestling team went head-to-head against Vista Peak for the APS championship title. Though the team lost 39-36, Rangeview won six of the nine matches wrestled. Due to injuries and other such issues, Rangeview gave up 24 points in forfeits. Seniors Kameron Reed and Tyler Cella and sophomores Raymond Cortez and Johnnie Fisher won by pins, each earning six team points. Freshman Romeo Cortez and junior Joseph Nuttall also won their matches by points. Last year, the Raiders won against the Vista Peak Bison, taking home the APS trophy. According to Romeo Cortez, “[Next year] Rangeview is going to bring it to them harder. We lost this time, next year we’re probably going to do better because we’re going to learn from this loss.”
