Kicking off the season with an undefeated record of 2-0, the Rangeview boys lacrosse team has started the season off on top of their league.
The start of this season brought the boys’ a strong win against Lutheran high school — a team they lost against just last year with a score of 16-8; beating Lutheran on March 10th with a final score of 10-8, the boys started their undefeated record.
A big win under the guys’ belts left some feeling very confident going into in the match up with Clear Creek High School, which Rangeview High School won 14-9 .
According to junior player Ben Capazzolo before the game against Clear Creek, “We are going to do very well against them [Clear Creek]. We have been really focusing on communication and moving our feet on the field.”
When it comes to looking forward to the rest of the season, the boys want to keep
a sense of family on and off the field.
Senior team captain Jordi Yomana explains, “Everyone is working together and playing as one.”
This season has welcomed some new faces to the varsity boys lacrosse season but for some, this is a positive addition and has brought a much needed change to the team.
“Look out for us this season,” Yomana adds. “There should be a new tone set this season with the new players.”
The boys are two games into their season and remain undefeated. Some on the team say it will stay that way as long as they play with the same aggression as they did against Clear Creek.
According to junior fan Kaitlyn Mearing, “The boys remained strong throughout the whole game. When it looked like they [Clear Creek] where gaining points the boys didn’t give up.”
Today, March 22, at 5:00pm the boys will take on Kennedy High School — which they won against last year with a close score of 14-13. Kennedy is a non-conference competitor for Rangeview but their season has kicked off very slowly with an overall record of 0-2.
Sophomore Nicholas Pantuliano admits, “I feel very confident. If you don’t then you are probably going to lose. But overall I’m very confident.”
