Feature photos by: Lilyana Jackson- Seniors Rayvon Fisher and Pryncess Fifita participate in a car wreck simulation during fifth and sixth period. Students were led to the south parking lot to witness what happens when you drink and drive. Local Aurora Police, firefighters and paramedics participated in order to show what really happens in a car accident. “I think things like that are a type of reality check for students,” says science teacher Ms. Yakish. “I think it will be a positive impact on students anything that’s kinda shocking and that kinda brings you to your senses.” Concluding the simulation, police officers and Mrs. Strouse talked about how important it is to never drink and drive, text and drive, and to wear your seatbelts. “I thought it was pretty powerful,” says senior Darrian Ford. “It was pretty realistic. It made feel pretty bad about it because it reminded me that it could happen to anyone you know.”
