As with every new school year, changes abound, so the Raider Review takes a look at what’s new at Rangeview for the 2023-2024 school year.
Grading Scale
This school year, Rangeview is changing to a new grading scale. From now on the grading scale will be 50-59=F 60-69=D 70-79=C 80-89=B 90-100=A. This new grading scale will make it easier for students to pass their classes. And for Honors classes, an A will now be weighed 4.5 instead of a 5. (Lyric Smith)
Late Start Wednesdays
Starting in the 2023-2024 school year Rangview Students and Staff will start instruction and class at 8:26 instead of 7:30, only on Wednesdays. The extra hour is intended for students and staff to have extra instructional time. This delay will result in classes being 50 minutes long instead of the usual length of 58 minutes. (Jeanae Ellis)
Professional Release Day
As we continue to kick the 2023-2024 school year off here at Rangeview, it’s important to note that students have some days off throughout the year. Friday, September 1st will be our first Professional Release Day of the year. Professional Release Days allow teachers a whole day to plan their upcoming assignments and lessons, along with some time for having staff meetings. Students, be sure to not show up on September 1st! (Paula Villalon)
Parent Teacher Conferences
This year’s Semester 1 Parent Teacher Conferences are being held on Wednesday, September 6th and on Tuesday, September 12th. Teachers (and staff members) should be found in the Commons, the Large Gym, or the Small Gym. Unlike previous years, teachers will not be allowed to conduct conferences in their classrooms, and are restricted to only the designated areas listed above. (Ione Narajka)
Homecoming Pep Rally
On Friday, September 15, Rangeview will kick off their amazing annual Homecoming Week with its amazing Pep Rally. Students and staff come together at the Large Gym and celebrate Homecoming Week. The Pep rally will be filled with special performances by the Polynesian club, Poms Team, and Cheer, along with a few other special surprises. Make sure to be there! (Ismael Zapien-Moran)
Athletic Hall of Fame
Every year Rangeview holds the Athletic Hall of Fame in order to celebrate the phenomenal athletes that have been a part of our sports programs over the years. This year’s induction ceremony will be held at the Rangeview auditorium on Saturday, September 16th at 6:30 pm. This year’s class of 2023 inductees will include: Danny Luriette, Jeremiah Paige, John Tidwell, Joy Jenkins, Katie Pham, Lisa Stone, Marvin Jones, TJ Henderson, Tom Clemen, and Y’vette Davis. (Tatiana Holguin)
Homecoming Tailgate
This year’s Homecoming celebrations will include Rangeview’s Annual Tailgate on Monday, September 18th at the beginning of Homecoming Week. The Tailgate will include multiple food trucks, live music, and games along with some features from Rangeview’s clubs. (Jeanae Ellis)
Homecoming Football Game
Rangeview’s Homecoming Football game will be held Friday, September 22nd, the day before the dance. The game, starting at 6:30, will take place at the APS Stadium by Hinkley High School. Rangeview will be playing Greeley’s Northridge High School. (Ione Narajka)
Homecoming Dance
Rangeview’s Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, September 23, with an 80s theme dedicated to Rangeview celebrating their 40 year anniversary. The dance will be located in the Big Gym at Rangeview High School. Don’t forget to bring your I.Ds and get your 80s on! (Mary Elizabeth Sekibo)
