Girl’s flag football is the newest sports sensation at Rangeview High School. With new leading coaches, Coach Mosley and Coach Carter, these girls are breaking new Rangeview barriers. Not only are the barriers being broken, but the coaches also work with unified students.
Girls’ flag football started on August 14th of this year. While there have been some bumps in the road with a late coaching change, the Raiders are off to a great start.
The Raider’s first game was August 26th and while Rangeview lost, they have now rattled off five straight wins since then, including avenging their opening loss. Loaded with standout athletes from other Raider sports, the season is looking very promising and players are already dreaming of state glory.
This is the second season of Girls Flag Football in Colorado, but the first for Rangeview. The flag football team has a large squad and is gaining in popularity. “I’m excited about the games, just having fun in the games,” said senior Eshanti Robinson.
“The Colorado High School Activities Association is proud to partner with the Denver Broncos and our high schools as we look to promote this new opportunity for female participation in flag football,” CHSAA Commissioner Mike Krueger told chsaanow.com last year. “Flag football is a fast, fun and exciting way to experience the game of football, and we are thrilled that girls in Broncos Country will have the chance to participate in this experience first-hand.”
In the future, the program is set to expand and gain more popularity, especially after not having coaches, with a more significant push to grow the program. This is an exciting experience for Rangeview Raider history.
