The Lady Raider Softball players are back in action. They’re hoping to come back this year and have a stronger season than last, ending last year with a 12-10 record.
They finished their first tournament 2nd of 8 teams, pushing that into their 4-3 record. Anna Salazar, the Softball Senior Captain, is excited to see her team improve in practices and bring their all into this season’s games. She states, “It’s really fun and I like my team, it’s the only reason I go.” Scarlette Heredia also agrees with Salazar, that the overall connection on the team draws people in, attracts new teammates, and is the overall reason many players are on the team.
With the Raiders softball team falling apart they also lost five players due to injuries so far this season. Let’s hope the ladies can fight off these other varsity teams and get back to where they aspire to be. Fighting against the many errors amongst the team, that are being worked out through practice, but have not been completely executed within games. The team is dedicated to bringing their practice drive into the competition season.
After interviewing Coach Anette, who has been the Rangeview Raider softball coach for the past three years, is expecting a lot from the underclassmen going into this season. She shared, “I lost seven seniors this year, so I have some juniors that I’m hoping will step up this year, show me what they got, and only get better.”
