Golf. It is a nationally adored sport. While many people find golf to be leisurely and nothing but fun, that won’t apply to Rangeview’s golf team this year. This season might be the toughest one yet because they are ultimately rebuilding their squad from the ground up. With almost two-thirds of the team graduating, they had no choice but to restart. With 70 percent of the team being new recruits this year, they are going into the season blind with barely any prior knowledge and without leadership.
The new coach, Jason Oulman seems to disagree and has high hopes for the now-finished season. “I’m extremely excited about the season! It’s a sport that I have played my whole life and like all sports, my connection to it has helped me in many ways throughout my life. I want to help instill that same relationship and connection to golf in my players! ”. The coach seemed to have high hopes for the team and had many players to highlight such as Wyatt Sandness who is the “funny/wild freshman” or “the leader” of the team Yossiah Merc. He said,” I’m expecting us to set and reach personal goals. We are trying to create a new culture in the golf program because I’m a new coach and a massive amount of last year’s team were seniors. So we are looking to improve as players, form bonds as a team, and enjoy the game!”
We can all agree that by all means, this season will be interesting for the team. They will have to sort some stuff out before continuing with anything else. Will the season be all fun and games as predicted or will they crumble under the weight of the looming season ahead?
