With their first game, today , December 3, Girls Basketball is excited to get back on the court.
Junior Makaylee Jones, who has been on varsity since her freshmen year and averaged 8.5 points per game last season, has very high hopes for this 15-16 season. Jones said that last year the team was good, but their were a few people who did not work as a well together with the other girls. She states that the leadership and overall team were really good and worked well. Last season the Lady Raiders finished 11-13 and lost in the first round against Palmer High School with the final score 45-70.
“I am nervous about the first game, but more excited,” said Jones. She also thinks that this year will be better than the last because there is a lot of new talent among the girls.
Senior, Alexis Wall, who swung varsity last season also says that she is excited for the game and that the scrimmage the other day went really well. Wall states that if the team has a positive outlook, the team will go far and be great. Going onto to the court this year, Wall says her motto is “You miss every shot you don’t take.”
The Lady Raiders will take on Skyline High School in the Manual Tournament today at 3:30.
