The temperature is dropping and fall sports come to an end, inviting in the new girl’s basketball season. For some, this basketball season has been long awaited.
The new basketball season started last Monday November 18th, and tryouts left only one senior standing: Tyauna Coe.
In response to the tryout picks, junior Samantha Peotter comments, “just because there is one senior on the team doesn’t mean the team lacks skill.”
Coe has played for the Rangeview team every year since her freshman year. With every year, she improves and earns a spot on the team. According to the other players, she is very valued.
Coe, as well as her other teammates, were spotted at Rangeview’s infamous Red and White game. The game was meant to showcase the skills of the varsity and JV teams by having them play a scrimmage. It was a preview of how the season might go and the work ethic of each team; the varsity team took a win.
According to senior and fan Melony Erly, “The game is really fun to watch because it is so exciting and it’s like a preview into the season.”
Some of the ladies say they cannot wait to play against the teams they lost to last year since it shows how much they have grown. As the oldest, Cole will be leading the team as well as juniors Angel Brodus and Taelor Jackson.
“I want to keep our work ethic up and just play hard in every game,”Brodus said.
Preparing for the first official game of the season, the ladies have been practicing non-stop everyday. Some of the ladies admitted that they only want to improve from last year.
Brodus adds, “Yeah, our chemistry is better and overall we are a better running team.”
