As we enter February, Rangeview has devoted an entire week to raising money for Make-A-Wish for six year old Jackson, who wishes to go to Hawaii.
In addition to tons of activities planned for Spirit Week, on Friday, February 9th, leadership is hosting “Jackson’s Luau”, Rangeview’s Hawaiian-themed school dance. A luau is a Hawaiian party or feast.
Just as in previous years, this winter dance will take place in the commons.
“It took us pretty much this school year to plan Wish Week as a whole and all the events that go along with it,” leadership teacher Anna Gebhardt says. “The dance is important to go to because all of the proceeds go to Make-A-Wish, which is an awesome cause and for our Wish kid Jackson. It’s going to be a really fun time.”
Ticket prices are posted at $5 per ticket. The dress code is appropriate luau attire, which will be judged at the event to potentially win the costume contest.
Some of the outfit ideas for the Luau dance are:
- Floral button up shirt
- Girls can dress up in any floral dress
- Artificial grass hula skirt
- Plastic Leis
- Or any beach themed costume
To complete your Luau look you can find them at Family Dollar, Party City, Walmart, Target, Party America and Party Store and Rentals. If you don’t have the money to buy any, you can just go dressed casual.
“Yes, I’m going,” says Adewale Solanke, an 11th grade student. “I can’t say no to the picture of the kid’s face, but I am glad to help.”
Be sure to go to the dance this Friday, and be sure to bring your friends along to this event!
