Feature Photo By: Dominique Harlan – Social studies teacher Mrs. Walsh monitors her class from the background as they begin putting chrome books away. Walsh is making sure to mention to all of her students and co-workers that tomorrow, April 20th, students and staff should wear the color orange to show their support for the national movement on gun violence. Tomorrow is also the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting, and Walsh stated that Social Justice Club decided to avoid planning a walk-out because, “…we’re concerned students will walk-out just because they don’t want to be at school,” adding, “it’s just a heightened day because it’s Columbine’s anniversary, 4/20, Hitler’s birthday… it’s just safer for them to be in school.” Tomorrow during lunch, Social Justice Club will have a table set up in the commons with the names of Colorado Representatives and Senators for students to contact regarding their thoughts on school safety and gun violence.
