Some may say it has been a long-awaited year for the football season to finally be here.
The wait is over.
Varsity RHS football player junior Julian Cuascut said, “The team is ready to begin our season in what is expected to be a good one this year to make up for last year’s not so successful season.”
The Rangeview football team is going to the new 5A Metro 10 league. The league is a lower-level league than the one from last season, which many say will allow for improvement to redeem themselves.
Varsity Football Assistant Coach Bible explains, “My expectations are high, we are going into a ten team league which means we only have one out of league game. I think our team culture has shifted to a more positive environment which will help us pursue a winning record.”
With the results of last year’s season, The Raiders finished with a 3-7 record. By the looks of it, the coaches, players, and the school are all hoping for a better season by setting high standards this year.
JV kicker Erika Xoy said, “I feel the team this year has a high chance of becoming a better team because we actually are staying focused in practice. We are improving on our plays and trying our hardest at practice so that we can be prepared for the official first game.”
As expected for the start of each football season, the first game gave everyone a hint as to how successful or not so successful the team will be this season.
So how does Rangeview think their team will perform this year? Are they going to be satisfied?
Rangeview student and fan of the football team junior Dhalun Bennet simply stated, “They’ve been underperforming most years… I do wish for the best possible season though.”
Tune in to tomorrow’s second game of the season, where the Rangeview football team will take on Smoky Hill. The game will take place at the APS stadium at 6:30 PM.
