In the midst of the start of the season, it’s almost a certain to have butterflies before each game, and the Raiders may have a couple cases of “butterflies.”
The Raiders have played four games thus far this season, and stand at a 1-3 record with one victory coming against a Overland team 14-9. The boys took some tough losses to a good Highlands Ranch team 12-1, a solid Littleton team and a good Silver Creek team this past Monday at Coors Field.
The game at Coors field was at 11 am March 16th in which the Raiders got to play at the home of the Colorado Rockies baseball team and battle another non-league game against the 4A school Silver Creek.
“Playing at Coors Field was a great experience,” said 3rd year varsity Shortstop Josh Schumacher “I think it will be something this team remembers forever.”
Although the Raiders came into the game off of a win against Overland, they couldn’t quite get the win against Silver Creek as they lost 13-1.
“I think all the hard competition we’re playing will prepare us for league play.” said Junior Zach Shepard
Indeed the Raiders do have a tough schedule ahead of them as they face a great ThunderRidge team March 17th, and travel to Grand Junction to take on Grand Junction Central and Grand Junction on March 20th and 21st.
As the Raiders hope to start back up on the winning side, they will have tough competition in their way before EMAC league starts.
“Our goal is to win league and get into the playoffs, ” said Schumacher “I think we can accomplish that this year.”
