On May 12th your boys’ varsity baseball team traveled to Cherry Creek High School to take on the top team in state in the district tournament.  The Bruins were heavily favored to beat the 32nd ranked Raiders.   But the Raiders surprised all as they came out ready to play and stayed in the game the whole time, ending up losing by a score of 3-0

The Raiders started off hot as they got a leadoff triple from second baseman Josh Schumacher to open the first inning but failed to bring him in.  Failure to hit with runners in scoring position plagued the Raiders as they outhit the Bruins 7-3 but failed to score any runs.

In their final games at Rangeview, Seniors Ryan Burke and Cesar Estrada brought their A games as Ryan went 2-2 with a hit by pitch and Cesar threw six merciless innings giving up just three hits and walking only three while giving up only three runs.   However those three runs ended up ending the Raiders season as they failed to cross the plate.

“I think we came out ready to play,” said Junior Edgar Castaneda. “A couple of plays didn’t go our way and that cost us the game.  Overall I think we played great we could have won it, but it happened.”
