Drawing and imagery are important techniques artists utilize and are the reasons why they are known. Natalia Gonzalez is a Sophomore at Rangeview High School, continuously progressing in her drawings and she is determined to finish many pieces with improvements. Over the years, Natalia has been constantly improving her art, making her pieces really come to life.
Natalia exclaimed that her biggest inspiration with art was “…my dad because he has taught me everything I know.” According to her father, Joe Gonzalez (Coach G.) he feels “…super proud of her, I remember…when she was little we used to draw a lot together, so seeing her growth and progress has been very exciting.” Gonzalez is very proud of his daughter’s artwork, her journey with art, and is continuing to support her throughout any of her goals. Natalia has had great progression in her artwork, and her father is behind her every step of the way.
With Natalia’s amazing artistic talents, her work has been featured in crowds, specifically at the Aurora Mall. “…In middle school it was shown there… and last year, as a Freshman.” It takes pure talent and hard work to get art featured to the public, but with Natalia being as talented as she is, her art should be expected to be featured plenty more times in the future.
True art takes a lot of time, and patience is needed when wanting a great and beautiful piece. Natalia dedicates plenty of her time making sure her art looks good and presentable. The most amount of time Natalia has dedicated to her art was said to be “…a week”. With the style Natalia decides to use for her pieces, she must use great precision and time to be satisfied with the artwork as a whole. Gonzalez, her father and influencer of her artwork, said that he doesn’t provide ideas or style. Instead, “…we always encouraged art…because I am an artist myself, I like to draw, so just fostering that with her growing up, we always encouraged her.” This statement reveals that Natalia comes up with her own ideas or is given requests, and is motivated to keep moving by the help of her parents encouraging her along the way.Natalia’s hard work and perseverance throughout her journey has awarded her with perks and new experiences. Natalia said that her biggest achievement with her art was “…starting to make money off of it…” Making money from her art hasn’t been a usual thing, as she goes on to exclaim, “…that’s been the biggest thing which has happened recently.” This just proves how long it takes, and how much patience and dedication you’d need in order to build off of such a strong passion.
Carrying a passion and a goal takes a lot of practice to be better than you already are. Natalia, being the great artist she is, has her own goals she looks forward to for the future of her creations. Natalia said she’d like to “…push [herself] to make bigger pieces…”. Larger scale art, means more time spent on the piece itself. She goes on to say, “…to include a lot more detail…” Details in art are severely important to make a great and inspirational piece. Despite all the close details Natalia already includes in her art, she’d like to include more and improve. Passions are one of the main building blocks of a person’s life, as they may carry this passion throughout their career and heart. It’s important to have dedication, and see yourself somewhere that you’d like to be. Natalia said that in the next ten years, she would “for sure” see herself with this same passion. She also explained that she believes, “[She’ll] be a tattoo artist”. From the support of her father, he said that for someone to design a tattoo for him, “She’s the only one I’d allow to do that…That’s the dilemma, sometimes you criticize other people’s work, so you don’t want it on you permanently, but the other part is, you could draw your own, but then it seems pretty narcissistic…”. Taking this from Gonzalez, it shows the trust he has in his daughter, Natalia’s art, as he’d be willing to receive a design from Natalia that he wouldn’t mind carrying along with him for the rest of his life. Several great pieces made by Natalia are shown at the Aurora Mall, so be sure to check out the student pieces section and try finding Natalia’s work!
