This season, the Detroit Pistons are on track to finish 8-74 breaking the record for the fewest wins in a season which hasn’t been broken in a decade. The Pistons are over halfway through their season with a record of 6-43, averaging a win percentage of 0.39. Although the Pistons haven’t won a championship since 2004, the team still had better records than they do now. In the past, Detroit was a team that could compete in the league, and beat the other top team–the 80 to 90s Bulls and nowadays they can’t even beat the Spurs with a 0.22 percent win rate.
When Detroit had won their first couple of championships, the team was stacked with players like Dennis Rodman, Bill Laimbeer, James Edwards, Joe Dumars, and Isiah Tomas proving to be a championship contender for 2 straight seasons. This lineup was known as the “Bad Boys” for their aggressive and physical style of play. They were a force to be reckoned with, dominating the competition and even being named the most brutal team in the league.
The Pistons won back-to-back championships during this period and cemented themselves as one of the greatest teams in NBA history. Comparing that force with the failure that they are now is a sad future to look forward to for Pistons fans. Although the team hasn’t been the best in the league, the Detroit Pistons still worked as hard as if not harder than their opponents, and they are tasked to compete against the best in the world. Detroit in the future could go back up and compete very soon. Confidently, the Pistons could change their game around and may start winning a little more with a lot of changes like some rigorous training and getting great draft picks. They could get back to the top or drop more in their organization. Now the fans just have to wait and see what this team could do in the future, knowing what they have done in their past.
