With the 2024 season underway, there are some outstanding runners you should be on the lookout for! With key runners graduating, there are a few runners who are going to take on the big roles. With Abdinasir Hassan, Evelyn Reynolds, Oliver Ruiz Anderson, Isabel Spies, Makai Yamauchi, and Ethan Pastoor are joining the team this year as Freshman, but this hasn’t changed the very high expectations from Head Coach Emilee Velander.
Alongside the returning runners this season, the new runners the team has added will be a big help. These additions give this year’s team more depth. With runners preparing by running a range of 50-200 miles over the summer, this year’s team will have major improvements.
With many top runners on Boys and Girls Varsity they are expected to do excellent this season. On Boys varsity, Kimi Bulto and Abdinasir Hassan are leading the team and hopefully will qualify for state. On Girls Varsity, returning Sophomore Aiden Schumacher and returning Junior Elianna Wright are leading the team and running more impressive times than ever. Coach Velander said, “We’re excited for the future of Abdinasir Hassan and Evelyn Reynolds.” Bulto said, “I do long runs and track workouts,” this shows the work ethic the star runner has and proves why his times have improved by around two minutes within one season. With the new additions and the new improvements to this year’s teams, this is going to be a huge season for the Rangeview Cross Country Team.
