Coming off the worst football season since before covid, Rangeview’s 2024 season is the most promising season in recent years. After going 1-9 with one of the most injury filled seasons in history, a major comeback is needed and expected from the Raider football team.
Offensive Coordinator Joe Eck stated, “Last year the biggest struggle we had was our physical health and having young players with less experience playing Varsity.” In any sport, injuries have a negative impact on the entire team, but when you have so many that you’re forced to play inexperienced Varsity players, you shouldn’t expect to win many games. Last season injuries impacted the team as a whole but also individual players, like starting quarterback, Tyson Tuck.
Tuck, going into his second season as Rangeview’s quarterback, is looking to have a major jump after only playing 3 games last season, due to an injury. Coming back from his injury Tuck said, “I couldn’t play the last 7 games of the year, so coming back…it was scary, but now I’m confident.” After a season ending injury, development slowed down, however, both coach Eck, and Tuck himself, have said great things about his development as a player.
Tuck said, “I feel like my IQ and throwing power has improved,” and continued exclaiming, “my bond has gotten stronger with my teammates, and that helped us win in 7 on 7.”
Looking forward to the season, and the improvements the team has made as a whole, returning player Kevin Prosser, is coming off an injury. Senior Nasir Bandy, has really improved his IQ and physicality as a football player for Rangeview High School.
Looking at the schedule, Coach Eck stated that he’s looking forward to playing Vista Peak saying, “…last year was a fluke and we had a couple starters out-the score shouldn’t have been lopsided.” Coming off the first game of the season, a loss to top 15 ranked-Eaglecrest High School, a major comeback is needed, in the upcoming game against Lakewood. Despite first-game struggles, the future’s still bright for the Rangeview Raider Football team..
