Soccer is ready to kick off fall sports this season! The boys started their year on the 24th of August. Although they have lost in the past, they show great promise for future games, especially with more players joining the team to add on. Many of the boys are new on the team. Returning senior Darian Puentes, captain of the soccer team, stated, “There are new players so I’m looking to build a bond with them and have a good time while trying to be competitive and win games.”
However, the boys’ record is 2-4-1 to start the season. Puentes mentioned, “Last year there was definitely a chemistry problem, but this year it is already starting to change and the more we play, the more we will improve as a team.” Once a team can get to know each other, they can play better and play more with one another. Then they can change how they’re going to win this season.
Last year Puentes said, “Attitude problems and overall chemistry of the team affected them and we are hoping to improve that this year.” As Puentes strives to be a good captain, there are also some other leadership rules he follows as the main leader of the team. As their leader, Puentes needs to make sure that the team is sticking together and has enough courage from the upperclassmen to lead and produce more wins in the future.
