Rangeview Boys Basketball are ready to ball out this season with returning stars such as Archie Weatherspoon V, Kenny Black-Knox, and Royce Edwards. New players joining the team are, Marceles Duncan and Dario Washington as freshmen. With new and returning players the boys have been working hard this fall leading up to this season’s first game against Regis Jesuit.
Last year the team lost in a close game against Chaparral in the playoffs. This season’s starting lineup may be similar to the last years except a couple new additions to the team. Following a 12-12 record from last season, this year they are projected to be a top team in the league. The players are ready to dominate and play even better than last year, Archie Weatherspoon and Kenny Black-Knox leading in almost every stat category in MaxPreps. With new transfers like LaDavian King and freshman Marceles Duncan, the raiders are a dangerous team leading up to this year.
Last year Weatherspoon led in many scoring categories such as points per game, field goals per game, and assists per game, Weatherspoon played very well last year leading the team in many scoring stats. Weatherspoon said, “since I’ve been here for a year, now I can help lead the team into a better spot, mostly because I’ve seen what it looks like at this level.” Archie also said he found a way to help them because, “I had created a bond with the guys last year and this year to play better and create more chemistry.”
Black-Knox who last year led defensive stats such as Rebound per game, steals per game, and blocks per game. Black-Knox had worked with Weatherspoon and other players this summer to improve the chemistry, Black-Knox a leader on the team helped last year as a Junior and this year he is one of the captains. Black-Knox said, “he worked over the summer being more humble as a player so the other guys can look up to him when they play.” Last year he helped lead a little although this year the team rests in his hand to help lead since he has been at Rangeview for four years. Black-Knox said, “Last year the chemistry with everyone wasn’t enough, and needed to be improved this year,” this summer the guys have been focusing on that the most. As the season gets ready to start these two players are expected to help lead alongside many other players on the team.
