A new season means a chance for the Rangeview Varsity Soccer team to prove themselves. After finishing 2-11-2 last year, the Raiders are determined to learn from their losses and prove that they are able to compete at a higher level.
While the record may show a difficult season on paper, the Raiders’ season featured many close games. Multiple games came down to the wire, causing the Raiders to fall just short of winning. The narrow margins highlight the true talent of the Raiders but also express the need to emphasize consistency and the level of play they need to maintain throughout the season.
Daylen Cardwell emerged as one of the team’s highest offensive contributors on the team, and expect him to have a large role on the offense this season. Cardwell still believes there is major room for improvement, and that a stronger connection between the coaches and players is inevitable, “I expect the coaching to adapt to the team’s playstyle more, and let us have more input in the game plan.” Cardwell said, “We have a great team and if we get into the correct rhythm we can excel and make the playoffs.”
The Raiders Varsity team looks to enter the 25-26 season emphasizing flexibility and cooperation. Goalkeeper Leonardo Guereca-Perez expects the team’s offseason work to be the key in having success this season. “I expect to see more chemistry among players because many of us play in a club together during the offseason,” Guereca-Perez said.
The Raiders aren’t hiding from last year’s record – they’re using it as a lesson. With returning talent that have another year of experience, the Raiders look to have a statement season, a chance to have a bounce back year to prove that they can compete with anyone and play at a high level.
