With a record of 6-6, Girls Basketball still hopes to make it to the sweet 16. Team captain, Junior Makaylee Jones, who is currently averaging 8.8 points a game, says “My hopes are still high; We as a team are looking for a comeback.”
Jones also states that when the girls played against Thomas Jefferson, it was not a good representation of their abilities and talents, saying the final score was 28-54.
Senior, Alexis Wall says “ When playing TJ, we started off with a ten point lead, but then felt too confident about the game, which is why we lost by so much.”
Wall also says, that another reason for such a big loss was freshmen Dezmonea Antwine, who she views as one of the better players on the team, was not able to play in the game against Thomas Jefferson. Antwine is currently leading the Lady Raiders with 14.7 points per game.
Overall, Wall thinks that the girls do pretty good, but she does think that there is plenty of room for improvement. “If we change our outlook to be more positive, take criticism, and listen to the team and coaches, we will do great!”
