As of recently, Rangeview has three wrestlers ranked in the state of Colorado according to the Aurora Sentinel. The trio of ranked wrestlers are — Senior Christian Calkins ranked 14th in the 182 pound weight class, Senior Kipp Corby ranked 9th in the 138 pound weight class, Senior Humberto Caloca, ranked 13th in the 285 pound weight class, and Junior Darren Solomon ranked 11th in the 145 pound weight class.
“I still go out every match knowing I need to dominate.” Calkins says about his attitude as a ranked wrestler. Corby says “ It’s always been the same — train like I’m in second, wrestle like I’m in first.”

Although the wrestling season is almost halfway over, there is the feeling of excitement for the upcoming state tournament. With the individual records of Christian Calkins at 18-4, Kipp Corby at 20-2, and Darren Solomon at 20-2
The wrestling team has taken a few losses in varsity starters to injury such as junior Darren Solomon, who went down two weeks ago with a knee injury. Solomon currently has an MRI scheduled for Sunday which will decide the rest of his season. Junior Jared Canals is also out due to a broken arm.
The APS championships are next Wednesday January 27th, against Aurora Central. Rangeview entered the final round of the tournament by winning against Gateway and Hinkley. Aurora Central ended up beating Vista Peak. Central took control of the mat and took the win with a final score of 60-15.
Over the weekend Rangeview competed in a tournament at Smoky Hill. Rangeview tied for eighth place out of 18 other schools.
