The Rangeview girls swimming season is coming to an end with APS championships right around the corner. Rangeview swim team is no stranger to winning — coming off of an impressive performance last year. Rangeview has dominated the EMAC league for the past 12 years, destroying schools such as Hinkley, Gateway, and Central.

This season has been no different, with the girls off to a hot start winning 7 out of their 8 first meets of the season by at least 100 points each time. Their only loss of the season was their meet against Brighton.

“Our team has improved a lot more this year,” Sydney Comet, 3 year Varsity swimmer, claimed. “We started out stronger and faster than ever before. I feel like we’ll finish out the season a lot stronger as well.”

With the APS Championships this Saturday, the girls are excited and looking forward to a chance at winning their 13th consecutive championship.

“The expectation is always high, our girls always have that desire to keep the championship at home… We’ll take things one step at a time, we have to earn it, it’s not just given it to you,” explained veteran coach Peter Gerard.

Junior swimmer Sydney Comet said, “I’m really looking forward to Championships this year… I feel like our team this year is diverse in all events.”

Last year at the APS Championships Rangeview girls tallied up a demanding 446 points for the team. Winning 10 out of the 12 events, the girls put up some of their best numbers yet. With a coach that has over 10 years of coaching experience at Rangeview the girls are likely to get their 13th consecutive championship title.

APS Championship are this Friday and Saturday at Aurora Central High School.
