On February 12th Rangeveiw’s varsity wrestling team went to their regional wrestling tournament in Grand Junction. Three wrestlers prevailed and will wrestle in the state tournament this weekend; Kipp Corby (senior), Christian Calkins (senior), and Myles Price (senior) are the trio of wrestlers heading to the state tournament. Overall Rangeview took 7th out of 16 teams in their region.\

Calkins and Price will be entering into the Pepsi Center for the first time as state qualifiers. Corby on the other hand isn’t new to the arena. This will be Corby’s second time qualifying for state; “It’s a lot different environment, a lot more intimidating.” Corby said about the intensity that surrounds the upcoming tournament.

Calkins finished this season with a regular season record of 27-11, he was also one point away from qualifying for state, last year, as a junior. He will be entering the tournament as the 16th seed in the 182 pound weight class; Calkins will face the number one seed Matt Hebel from Legacy High School who went 37-1.
