As the girl’s tennis team springs around for another season, their confidence shines through as they prepare for the nitty and gritty matches soon to come.
“I am confident in our team. We have a lot of returning girls, and we have about twice as many girls. We had about 28 last year and 54 this year,” said Coach Forde.
Not only does the spring season bring April flowers and May showers, but this year’s girls are also dragging along nothing but determined attitude and fresh tennis balls. The team has nearly doubled prior to last year, splitting the sport into three sects; varsity, JV1, and, JV2, which has not occurred in a long time.
This season holds several goals, including personal goals for the team itself on top of what they plan to accomplish competition wise.
Coach Forde stated, “goal wise, we have about 30 new tennis players, girls who have never played tennis before. I want them to love tennis and just have fun with it, feel supported, and grow throughout the year.”

Not only are the coaches prepared for the great things this season holds, but the girls are as well and feeling just as assertive.
Sophomore Maddie Heiken added, “I’m totally hyped for the season! It should be a blast and even more fun than last year since we’re coming closer together as a team and closing the gap between varsity and JV.”
Those who are not new to the game and understand the gist of things plan to welcome in the newcomers, and build their skills even more.
Senior Jourdan Williams who holds a spot on varsity and is #3 in singles stated, “this is my third year playing tennis. My top personal goal for the season is to make the newcomers want to come back next year and encourage their friends to join,” adding, “my best skill in tennis is my slice.”
Rangeview will host Gateway at 4:00 p.m today, March 15th.
