Today nine more Rangeview athletes will be signing to play sports at the college level. Four of these athletes will be attending junior colleges while the other five will be attending four year institutions. The signing will be today at 11:30 in the Community Conference Room.
Josh Schumacher, Baseball
Schumacher will be signing to play baseball at Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) in Kansas City, Kansas. Schumacher has been a member of the varsity baseball team since his sophomore year and holds a career .423 batting average. Throughout this season he is hitting .485 with 16 RBI and one home run.
Jalen Guidry, Basketball
Guidry is signing to play basketball for the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen in Sterling, Colorado. During his two seasons on varsity Guidry amassed 194 assists. Guidry came within 17 assists of Terry Taylor’s single season assist record, this season when he threw 156 assists. This season Guidry also helped lead the Raiders basketball team to the Final Four.
DeVante Wheaten, Football
Wheaten will be signing to play football at Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona. Wheaten lettered in football three times and finished his high school career with eight interceptions and four touchdowns on kick and punt returns.
George Marpaung, Football
Marpaung is signing to play football at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. Marpaung played varsity for two seasons and was one of the key anchors on the offensive line. Marpaung was also an honorable mention all-state selection this season.
Charlotte Gochenour, Dance
Gochenour will be signing to dance at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska. Gochenour was a four year member of the varsity poms team at Rangeview.
Danny Diaz, Soccer
Diaz is signing to play soccer at Midland University in Midland, Kansas. Diaz did not play soccer last season and was the kicker for the varsity football team instead.
Quiana Hughes, Volleyball
Hughes will sign to play volleyball at York College in York, Nebraska. Hughes was a one year varsity member. During that one season she accumulated 99 digs and an 88.7 serving percentage.
“It feels great,” Hughes said. “I’m living out my dream of playing college volleyball.”
Ronald McQueen, Track
Ronald McQueen is signing to run track at Neosho County Community College in Kansas.
Katie Russell, Softball
Russell will be signing to play softball at the Division III Southern Virginia University. Russell spent two seasons on varsity where she accumulated 14 runs scored and nine walks.
