Many say that the 2016 presidential election is perhaps one of the most anticipated elections ever in American history. In less than six days, the future of the nation will rest in either Trump or Clinton’s hands. All across the nation, thousands of people have voiced their opinions, as well as casted their votes on who they think should be in office next; including the Rangeview student body.
On Twitter, the Raider Review conducted a poll for students to cast their votes.Once the poll closed, a total of 175 students had voted. The majority voted for Clinton by 51%, compared to the 22% who voted for Trump, and 27% that voted for an unknown other.
“Having [Clinton] as a president, someone that’s more prepared to be a president than Trump, and has experience because of her husband,” said junior class historian Kuleni Abdo. “I feel like will better benefit the country.”
Sophomore Bolu Forlan, an intern for the Colorado Democratic Party, agreed with Abdo’s views.
“I feel like she has a lot more to offer and has actual plans, unlike Trump who just beats around the bush about what he actually wants to do,” said Forlan. “She has a political background, meanwhile Trump has a business background. You should know what you’re doing; he just has ideas that are not convenient for the nation.”
In addition, both Abdo and Forlan mentioned the degrading remarks Trump has made about women, in comparison to the effort Clinton has made for equality for women, which is an ever-pressing issue in our nation.
“There’s a lot of things that aren’t equal [in America] that Trump keeps trying to encourage,” Abdo said. “He doesn’t give women the credit that they deserve and that’s what she’s trying to do. [Clinton] wants women to have the same pay as men.”
There are a plethora of reasons why people believe either candidate would be qualified enough to be the next president of America but, at Rangeview, students believe that the one most qualified is Hillary Clinton.
