With the soothing aroma in the spring breeze, high school girls soccer is finally upon us. The start of spring sports brings the adrenaline rushing action, spectacular goals, and intense competition many fans state they miss.
The Raiders were defeated 2-1 in two close non league games against the Ponderosa Mustangs on March 14th and the Highlands Ranch Falcons on March 16th. Many believe the Raiders need to create momentum and quickly. With a new season, comes new opportunities; a priority for the Raider is to win early in the season and take their momentum all the way through to the playoffs. Coach Weber, the varsity head coach, is also very excited for the 2017 season.
“We’ve been working hard in the off season and we’re looking forward to games. I feel really good about how we’ll perform as a team,” stated coach Weber.

The Raiders have been training vigorously and continuously throughout the off season.
“I do think this season will definitely be different for Rangeview girls soccer. If we work hard and stay dedicated, we could get past the first round of playoffs,” expressed senior Tayler Ohu.
Though the season hasn’t gotten off to the start many anticipated, there’s still an opportunity to achieve a playoff berth. The Raiders loss to Ponderosa was massive, with the fourth game of the season approaching, this ones said to be a thriller from start to finish. As they play against talented teams, winning early in the season will be key to success.
With Rangeview nearly breaking even last season with a 7-6-2 record, the Raiders have been preparing for a different outcome than that heartbreaking loss last May against Columbine. Columbine soundly defeated Rangeview in the first round of the 5A playoffs with a final score of 6-0.
As Tuesday approached, the team had one common goal, continue the season strong and beat Northglenn.
Although Raiders fell short 0-1, they will continue to strive for success. Their next game is at Brighton on Tuesday April 4th.
