Despite having a new coach, lacking courts, and having to travel for most games, so far this season, the girls’ tennis team is dominating the competition. The team hasn’t lost any games in the EMAC conference yet.

“This season is going very well, better than I imagined,” said head coach Emmer.

For some of the girls, the season is different because there is a new coach, but they feel that they have improved.

“I feel good so far, I feel like we could go further in regionals/state because we have improved so much,” explained junior Victoria Pasillas. “I’m looking forward to going to regionals like we did last year, and I want to be able to go further than that this year.”

This week so far, the team has had two games — one against Adams City and another against Overland. The team was looking forward to the game against Overland the most.

“The Overland game will be a good test of where we are in the season thus far,” said Emmer.

The team beat Overland 5-2 and Adams City 7-0.

The team has reported that they have been working well together, playing with lots of confidence and passion.

“If they keep this up, they will do good for the rest of the matches,” stated Emmer.

Emmer’s positive outlook is shared with many members of the team as well.

“Our team is lit and the last two games we had against Adams City and Overland went really well,” said sophomore Jasmin Bates who plays fourth doubles. “We were prepared and killed them.”

The team has been very consistent in every game played. The next game for the varsity team is today against Hinkley at 4:00 p.m. On Tuesday, they play Vista Peak.

“If the girls do well, this could be for the EMAC Championship,” predicted Emmer.
