The boy’s tennis season has come to a close and according to many members of the team, there had been a lot of success over the course of these months. The team has come together a lot since the beginning, according to Coach Yakish.
Since the start of the tennis season in August, the Raiders have improved and it is showing in their record; they’ve won five matches since their slow start of losing their first two games.
“We’ve done pretty well,” says coach Yakish regarding the team.
Overall, she is pretty happy with the performance of the varsity team. She says a goal the team had put in place at the beginning of the season was to end up number one in their league. Now that the season is over and they’ve played their last conference match, the goal has been achieved.
According to coach Yakish, all of the team members have improved in skill over the course of the season and overall, the team chemistry has become much better. Coach Yakish also mentioned that freshman Caleb Urban is a player who has “been really consistent” and has also improved since the start of the season.

Caleb Urban, the only freshman on the boy’s varsity tennis team this year, is able to vouch for what coach Yakish stated.
“I’ve gotten better,” he says regarding his success through this season. He also claims that one of the best parts of the season was just being able to spend time with some upperclassmen and having fun with his team.
One of the team captains, senior Uzziel Hernandez, also talks about how there was a connection between the upperclassmen and underclassmen.
“The underclassmen will miss us,” Hernandez said. He also says that he enjoyed his last season playing tennis for the Rangeview Raiders and that he had accomplished what he hoped he would with helping his team and his own improvement as a player.
Multiple team members say that they were content with the results of the season and felt that all of the hard work paid off. To finish the season, the boys varsity tennis team had five wins and three losses. According to the team members, it was a fun and successful season.
