On November 3rd, both show choirs — Rhapsody and Chromatics — took a trip to Scottsbluff, Nebraska to participate in the Old West Choir Festival. Every year, Rangeview’s top choirs participate in this event to not only compete with some other schools in western states but to also share music with them and bond within the individual choirs. Many of the students in these choirs really enjoy going on this trip every year and getting closer with their choir mates because of it.

“I really like performing,” said Laura Brennan of chromatics. “I feel like when I perform, it takes me away into another reality.”
Chromatics — an advanced mixed choir — received a silver rating for their performance of their three songs, which were: Home by Phillip Phillips, Something Just Like This by The Chainsmokers & Coldplay, and Na Na Na by Pentatonix.
“I was kinda disappointed,” said Aris Bluh of chromatics regarding the score they received. “Everyone got the same rating and we worked a lot harder than past years. We could have been a bit more synchronized and sharper; but otherwise, we were good.”
Rhapsody — an advanced all women’s choir — also received a silver rating for their performance of their three songs: Taylor the Latte Boy by Kristin Chenoweth, The Climb by Miley Cyrus, and Dear Future Husband by Meghan Trainor.
“I was very satisfied with our rating,” says Abril Pinedo of rhapsody. “Our choir works very hard inside and outside of school. Although I feel like the score should’ve been a bit higher, it was still something I was proud of; we really did our best out there.”
Next year, the show choirs will return to Nebraska in November to compete against the other choirs in hopes of getting gold.
