Many may say after not having a season they wanted, the girls’ soccer team has had a season that some would say was a bang. The girls have played 9 games and won 6 of them.
“We’ve been doing way better than last year and we’ve been putting up great fights with good teams,” junior varsity player Nyanna Pepper stated.
Last season, the girls only won 4 games, lost 9, and tied 2. This season the girls’ soccer team started strong and many say they are determined to finish strong as well.
“We had offseason programs, an indoor soccer team, and more to prepare the girls for a successful season.” said the girls’ new soccer head coach Mike Boyle.
During the off-season, the girls were playing for club teams and also were working with each other for extra work. Also, the head coach Boyle had off-season activities with the whole team: indoor soccer team, workouts, and outdoor workouts.
Now that the girls have started strong this season, the question is: are they going to continue at this pace and end the season like the way they started.
“Commitment and working with each other and building team chemistry will be the main key,” said senior and varsity player Yamilet Castanada Rocha, “and focusing during practice, because we are going to play some hard teams and I know we can beat them, we just have to put our all in to it.”
The girls have 4 games left in the season and many people believe they will finish strong. Their next game is on Monday, April 22nd against Adam City at Rangeview at 7 pm. Come out and support our girls.
