Closed Campus Still Active After Two Months

Closed Campus Still Active After Two Months

Leham Berihe, News Reporter

After Thanksgiving break, APS schools announced that schools would start closed campus protocols after the events that occurred at Aurora Central High School and Hinkley High school. Most of us know by now what the closed campus protocols are but to remind you  it means:  no leaving school grounds during the school day unless you have a pass or leaving with a parent or guardian. Other exceptions are if you have classes at the Community College of Aurora and Pickens Technical College, or attend any supervised athletic/ sports related activities.

This was supposed to last until after winter break but now as we are heading towards February, APS still has the mandates intact. APS says they are still working with the Aurora police department to keep schools safe until further notice. Right now there is not much information on when we will be able to leave school grounds other than rumors of it being lifted in February.
