The Rangeview varsity cheer team had their league competition on November 8th, 2023 at East high school.
This year’s league competition looked quite a bit different from the past EMAC league competitions as they were met with new competitors like Thomas Jefferson, East, George Washington, South, and Northfield.
They placed 2nd at the competition, while Thomas Jefferson placed 1st.
The win is still a huge accomplishment for the team. However, this was the first time Rangeview varsity cheer hasn’t placed 1st in the league competition in almost 6 years.
Rangeview’s sports league changed to DPS for the first time during the 2022-2023 school year.
So this record breaking loss could be as a result of the league switching but Rangeview varsity cheer still placed 1st at the DPS competition last year. That year was their first time competing in the DPS league.
“For the rest of the season I just hope that we can continue to do what we did in previous years which is place at state, place top 10, [and] hopefully do good at our 2nd to last competition at Chaparral.” said Rangeview varsity cheer captain, Leilani Ranburg.
Rangeview cheer will head on to their state competition in early December to take on many top ranked schools in cheerleading like Eaglecrest and Grandview.
The varsity cheer team has been off to a great start this season, hopefully they will continue to place high at their Chaparral competition and at state.
