Balancing seven extracurricular activities alongside a 4.99 GPA is no easy task. However, Jason Quach has done just that for four years, which is why he is Rangeview’s valedictorian. With so much success, you might think Quach had a master plan coming into high school. But according to him, “I didn’t think I was going to be number one because I didn’t take all weighted classes.” Still, he ended up with an almost perfect GPA.
Quach is quick to point out that he didn’t achieve this alone. He gives credit to teachers like Ms. Pierce, Mrs. Wetzel, and Mr. Petry for keeping him on track.
“They helped me straighten myself up and keep me on the path of academics,” he said.
Pierce offered high praise in return: “Jason makes chemistry look effortless, but I know there is a lot of hard work behind it. I’m sure that’s true in all of the classes he takes.”
Even though being valedictorian is a huge accomplishment, grades aren’t the only part of Quach’s life. He believes being well-rounded is essential to success—and he truly embodies that. He’s a varsity volleyball player and an active member in several clubs, including National Honor Society, Asian American Alliance, and StellarXplorers. Within each of these activities, Quach doesn’t take a backseat—he stays fully involved.
After four years of top-tier academics and extracurricular involvement, Quach still encourages others to take a balanced approach.
“Enjoy life a little from time to time,” he said. “Don’tjust work all the time.”
Of course, with so much success, Quach has made sacrifices—but he has no regrets. His sister, Celina Quach, who has also achieved academic success at Rangeview, shared insight into his mindset.
“Jason has sacrificed comfort to grow as a person,” she said. “He’ll take on things that scare or challenge him just to become better, even when it’s uncomfortable or exhausting.”
She added, “Jason is always up for a challenge and never lets anyone or anything bring him down. He stays calm under pressure, never complains, and never lets negativity get to him. He’s the kind of person who lifts others up simply by showing them what it means to stay grounded, focused, and fearless.”
Quach has always been an overachiever, striving for greatness. He will attend the Colorado School of Mines to study electrical engineering. At this prestigious STEM university, Quach will continue to showcase his skills and work toward fulfilling his immense potential.
