With the football season coming to an end the Raiders look poised to make the playoffs as usual. However, this year the playoffs will be a little bit different for the Raiders. For the first time since 2008, the Raiders will most likely have an away first round playoff game this season.
Coming into the game Rangeview is rated 24th in 5A, while the top 32 teams will make the playoffs. Heritage on the other hand is looking to host a playoff game as they are currently 14th, 2.1 points away from a road playoff game.
The Raiders are on track to make the playoffs; the only thing that should knock them out of the playoffs would be a blowout loss to the Eagles tonight.
“It’s a very important game,” said Senior Defensive End William Fifita.
Heritage maintains a record of 6-2 while Rangeview comes in at 4-4. Both teams come into the game with 4-1 league records, with each of their losses coming from Arapahoe.
The Raiders are coming off of a tough 14-7 loss to Arapahoe; the Eagles on the other hand are coming off of the good side of a 63-42 shootout against Gateway. With each team most likely in the playoffs, this game is important for each team so they can get better seeding.
Junior AJ Thomas comes into the game with 928 rushing yards and is on pace to break 1000 yards on the season.
The game is also the Denver Broncos High School Game of the week. There will be a festivities that include Games and giveaways. Also the cheerleaders, Miles the Mascot, and team alumni will be there. Festivities start at 4:45 at APS Stadium,and are open and free to family and students.
The main event, the football game will start at 6 as the Raiders Look to stop the Eagles’ flight and guarantee a ticket to the postseason.
