Boy’s Basketball
Upon entering the postseason, the Raiders had only faced 3 narrow defeats, all of which came out of state at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas. Otherwise, their run had gone completely perfect, including an undefeated record against Colorado teams.
In City League play, Rangeview was untouchable. They went a perfect 10-0, and never faced a real test as they cruised straight to the 6A City League title. Their dominance separated them from the rest and cemented them as a force in 6A hunting for a state title.
Rangeview continued their domination through the early rounds of the CHSAA state tournament, with crushing wins over ThunderRidge (84-63) and Cherry Creek (51-33). With these wins, the Raiders were able to set up a Final Four appearance at the Coliseum.
However, the Raider boy’s hoops season came to an unfortunate end in a heartbreaking loss to No. 3-ranked Ralston Valley in the final four. While the Raiders put up a valiant effort with three starters scoring double digits, they were dominated on the rebounds and held to uncharacteristic inefficiency from the field that allowed Ralston Valley to keep the game just out of reach for Rangeview.
While the Raiders did not capture their coveted 3rd State Title, this season was still one to remember; Dario Washington had a clutch game winning three to beat Mountain Vista at the buzzer, Achrie Weatherspoon V reached a career milestone of 1000 career points and became the fastest player to reach 1000 points in program history, and of course the undeniable dominance of Sophomore phenom Marcles Duncan. Even though the boys hoops didn’t win it all, they still had an amazing season. We all hope they can come back stronger next season.
Girls Basketball
The Rangeview Raiders girls basketball team wrapped up their challenging 2025-26 season with a 5-17 record, finishing fourth in league play. It was a season that pushed the players and coaches alike, but one that was necessary to experience as a team with future playoff hopes.
Despite the record, the Raiders’ season featured several highs. Rangeview closed out the DPS tournament in impressive fashion, with three consecutive dominant wins over Lincoln (76-6), DSST: Montview (71-19), and Denver North (53-33). These performances were a showcase of the talent on the roster and gave other teams a glimpse of what this group is capable of.
The future is very promising for Rangeview. With a tough season of experience behind them, they now look to improve and further chase their goals of success, and with their returning talent, the expectation is that the record only improves from here.
Boy’s Wrestling
After a slow start to the 25-26 wrestling season, the team as a whole had massive improvements at the end of the season. Even though they didn’t find lots of success in placing at the CHSAA 5a Regionals, the entire team showed out.
At the end of the season, the best wrestler for the team was Biram Griffey. Griffey was the sole wrestler to place at regionals and make it to state. Griffey, who wrestles in the heaviest weight class of 285 at a listed weight of under 200, has a lot to make up for in technical ability compared to his opponents. Even though he had to battle through this, he was still successful in winning his first match at the CHSAA State Championships. Although this success wouldn’t continue throughout, Griffey fell into the consolation side of the bracket and went 1-2.
Looking forward to next season, it’s expected that the team will be able to find more success. Griffey is the biggest returning wrestler, but on top of that, they are only losing 6 Seniors and have replacements already lined up.
Girl’s Swimming
As the 2025-2026 girls’ swimming season has ended, let’s dive deeper into how they did overall. The girls’ swim team had a record of 0 wins and 5 losses. While they showed some good results at some swim meets, it was overall a season to learn from and build off of.
Some of the swimmers who showed grit through the season were Junior Denna Scott, Junior Chela Gonzalez, and Junior Kathy Nguyen. Most of the girls on the team are coming back next year, so there is much room for improvement. Although the season was not what they wanted, the swim team still has some great things to look forward to heading into next year as they look to bounce back from a rough 2025-2026 season.
