After dominating the EMAC competition this year and becoming league champions, the Lady Raiders basketball team played in the first round of the playoffs last night against Palmer High School and won 55-47, giving the Lady Raiders one of only a handful of playoff wins in the past decade.
At the end of the first half the score was 27-24 and Palmer was up, but the Raiders were determined to give it their all in the second half.

“In the beginning of the game we lost our hype if we lose our hype we don’t play good,” said head coach La Monte Weddle. “After halftime we came out like junk yard dogs and got better on defense.”
Sophomore Angel Broadus and lead scorer of the night with 20 points stated, “In the first half we had a slow start because we were pushing the ball out and leaving shots open.”
“We came out after halftime and started playing as a team as a team,” said assistant coach Nicki Weddle.
By the end of third quarter the Raiders were up 41-29. At the end of the fourth quarter, the score was 55-47 the Lady Raiders came out of this game with the win.
The next round of the playoffs for the Lady Raiders Basketball team will be this Friday at 7 p.m. against Ralston Valley, the 4th seed in the state 5A playoffs.
