Back to School Trends
August 27, 2014
From joggers to crop tops, Sperry’s to Nike Roshe Runs, and everything in between has managed to become a 2014-2014 back to school trend. Every school year students rush to buy the clothes that are hot and trending. Last year it was all about the tribal print leggings and the Diamond Supply t-shirts, but what trends are sweeping the style network this year?
This year’s back to school trends are very Summertime Sadness; a lot of the outfits are very reminiscent of the summer trends everyone loves.
“This summer there was a lot of crop tops and booty shorts, and this year, I’ve noticed that crop tops with some type of high waisted bottom is still a big thing,” said Sophomore Darlenne Guerra. It is obvious that this is currently a big trend at our school with the girls, but it is like any other trend and will probably be over with as the weather turns chilly.
Students probably will not see a male sporting a crop top and pair of high waisted jeans anytime soon, but thankfully the guys have started their own back to school trends and stepped up their game.
“Nike Roshe Runs are extremely popular right now but a lot of guys have started wearing boat shoes like Sperry’s. Floral print and paisley shirts are in right now,” Sophomore Vincent Tran said. It is refreshing to see that more guys here at Rangeview are ditching the Vans and baggy white tee`s for more mature shoes like Sperry’s and cute little paisley shirts.
With the good comes the bad, so of course there are some back to school trends that will hopefully reach their expiration date soon. For the students that like to be comfortable while at school, jogger pants have become the new sweat pants, but a decent number of students feel like this is a trend that needs to be stopped. A gender specific trend that students do not always agree with is when males wear shirts with provocative images and designs.
“I would also like to stop seeing people wearing less mainstream clothing brands like Diamond Supply,” said Tran. So start taking some notes, as there is a large amount of students who have agreed that these are just a few of trends that will hopefully start to disappear.
After reviewing the good and bad back to school fashion trends, students have started making predictions and hopes for things that will hopefully become more popular. Recently, people have begun to wear bucket hats, so they will probably have their moment sometime within the next year. Cardigans have also become more popular over the years so expect to see plenty this fall.
