As the girls swimming season continues, the girls are on a roll, getting constant top-two results, with Anna Arana getting first place in the 50 Free, Daveah Archibeque getting 1st in the 100 and 200 free, Kathy Nguyen getting 2nd in the one meter, Graciela Gonzalez 1st in 100 fly and 200 individual medley, Scarlett Tambunan 1st in the 100 back, and Olivia Le in 1st in the 100 Breast; all vs Hinkley and Gateway.
Even with these results, this season presents a unique challenge, as “half of the girls on the team are new,” Coach Allen said. Meaning many athletes are still adjusting to the intensity, new expectations, and routines of this year’s swim season. With this year’s mix of experienced swimmers and newcomers, their practices are focused on skill development, endurance, and teamwork to help condition the girls to their fullest potential. “I am looking forward to finding out where their strengths are and how we can build a strong team for the next few years,” Coach Allen emphasized. The main goal that her team is focusing on this season is to identify each swimmer’s individual strengths and help them improve through consistent training.
With this, the team is more motivated and sees the situation as an opportunity for growth rather than a setback. By building confidence, fostering unity, and laying a strong foundation now, the girls swim team hopes to keep their strong start throughout the season and keep developing a program that will remain competitive and successful for years to come.
