Summer has ended and fall is here. Most of us can expect brand new movie releases coming to theaters or new albums from current or up and coming artists.
Movies:
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, Sony is partnering with Marvel Entertainment to release Venom. The movie is based on the anti-hero, Venom as Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock and Riz Ahmed plays Carlton Drake.
Venom is a new movie that is directed by Ruben Fleischer, someone who has also directed movies such as Zombieland.
The plot of this movie revolves around a reporter named Eddie Brock as he seeks to revitalize his career. While he investigates the Life Foundation, he encounters an alien symbiote. The symbiote provides him with superpowers as he eventually becomes Venom.
Senior China Noeun said, “It looks pretty dope compared to the last time I saw Venom in a movie which was in Spider-Man 3. He looks evil, but it’s gonna be good.”
Crazy Rich Asians is directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Kevin Kwan. Chu has directed other movies such as Now You See Me 2 and G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
Crazy Rich Asians revolves around Rachel Chu, an economics professor, as her boyfriend Nick invites her to attend his best friend’s wedding in Singapore. Surprisingly, she finds out that Nick’s family is quite wealthy, and she must deal with his family and their new culture.
Senior Kenny Luong said, “It looked really generic, but at the same time, it looks like it doesn’t do anything different. I haven’t watched it, but it looks like a lot of fun.”
Music:
In the past few weeks, there have been a number of artists that have released trending music.
Travis Scott is an American rapper and singer who recently released Astroworld. Sicko Mode is a song on this album and it lands as #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Other songs such as Yosemite and Stargazing have also landed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Senior Beimnet Mulugeta said, “I like the song Yosemite, but I don’t like Sicko Mode. Besides that, I liked the beats he had and his voice.”
6lack is an American singer and rapper. He released Prblms in September of 2016 and it reached #72 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart. East Atlanta Love Letter is an album that was recently released by 6lack.
Senior Bolu Folarin said, “He has a very therapeutic voice and I like his lyricism. It’s a really nice mellow R&B album with a little hint of rap.
